Profile surface grinding creep-feed

In the profile surface grinding creep-feed process the total amount of material to be removed is machined in just one to a maximum of three passes, however, this is conducted at reduced feed rates of approx. 200 mm/min. This grinding method is most frequently used in the production of turbine parts consisting of high-alloy, heat-resistant materials.

Use of extremely porous, vitrified bonded aluminium oxide grinding wheels with a low hardness grade

In order to avoid thermal damage (grinding burn), extremely porous, vitrified bonded aluminium oxide grinding wheels with a low hardness grade are used.

To counteract the loss of profile experienced by the soft grinding wheels, they are often dressed in a so-called CD process (CD stands for "Continuous Dressing" here). In this dressing process a diamond profile roller is brought into uninterrupted (continuous) contact with the grinding wheel, which it dresses by approx. 0.2 µm for each revolution of the grinding wheel.
