Bar grinding

The bar grinding process is a special form of centreless through-feed grinding. The workpieces in this process, however, are usually much longer than their outer diameter (sometimes up to 6 metres in length).

Particularly used in the steel industry for producing semi-finished materials

This grinding process is particularly used in the steel industry for producing semi-finished materials that are subsequently processed (finished) by the end-users.

Another special feature worth mentioning is that this process not only utilises the classic combination of grinding and control wheels. Some special grinding machines are equipped with two grinding wheels arranged opposite one another, whose longitudinal feed is realised by external steel drive rollers.
